Recommendations issued to Sedena and BC for torture of detainees in 2011

Mexico City, January 17.- The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) issued a recommendation to the Ministry of National Defense and the government of Baja California for having confirmed the illegal detention and acts of torture against two people that occurred in 2011 .

Six years after the agency was notified by a federal court, it finally issued a recommendation requesting both agencies to compensate the affected individuals.

In the document, they request registration in the National Registry of Victims so that they have access to the corresponding Comprehensive Aid, Assistance, and Reparation Fund and are provided with medical and psychological care, medication, and compensation based on the evidence presented.

He also proposed that the appropriate authorities be instructed to fully cooperate in filing and following up on the complaint filed by this National Commission with the Attorney General's Office. This will allow the legal investigation and determination of the responsibility of the police officers of the then PEP-BC, as well as personnel from the Sedena (National Security Forces), doctors, and other military personnel who participated in the events.
