Tijuana, September 10. Jesús Alejandro Ruiz Uribe, the federal programs delegate in Baja California, will resign from his position this Thursday, sources close to the state's federal Welfare Secretariat confirmed.
Ruiz Uribe served as delegate since 2018, when Jaime Bonilla Valdez resigned to seek the candidacy for governor of Baja California. He was reappointed in the position in October 2024 following the inauguration of President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Ruiz Uribe's resignation comes a month after the Baja California State Electoral Institute dismissed a lawsuit filed by Movimiento Ciudadano (Citizen Movement) over billboards from a foundation that bears his last name but is run by his sister.
The reason for the resignation—which will be officially announced at a press conference this Thursday at noon—is unknown, but there is speculation that it is related to his electoral intentions in 2027.
