PS Barito Putera Head Coach Stefano “Teco” Cugurra is optimistic that he can lead the club to victory when they host Kendal Tornado FC in the first match of the 2025/2026 Pegadaian Championship League 2 at Demang Lehman Stadium, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan.
"We have prepared optimally, and all the training has been going well this week," Teco said at a press conference in Banjarbaru on Thursday.
The Brazilian coach is optimistic that the club will be able to achieve its best performance so they can return to League 2 next week.
"We've even played a trial match before our first League 2 match tomorrow," said Teco.
During preparations for League 2, Teco said everyone was enthusiastic about restoring the club's performance and ensuring it performed at its best throughout the season.
According to him, Barito Putera players can't wait to appear in the first match, especially because they will be playing at their proud home ground which will be filled with thousands of Laskar Antasari supporters.
Teco asked all players to spread enthusiasm and high motivation to each other when playing in the first match in Liga 2.
"We've had a lot of time in training, and I think the chemistry between the new players and the old ones is starting to build," said Teco.
Meanwhile, PS Barito Putera player M Ridho said the players are ready to appear in the first match later.
"We've been preparing for quite some time, and as players, we can't wait to play our first match. We ask for everyone's support. Hopefully, we can put on a good show tomorrow," said Ridho.
