Semen Padang FC held PSBS Biak to a 0-0 draw in the first half of the fifth week of the BRI Super League which took place at the Gor Haji Agus Salim Stadium, Padang City, West Sumatra.

Playing in front of their home crowd, Eduardo Almeida's team tried to control the game from the opening minutes. In the second minute, a cross from Leo Guntara from the left side of the PSBS defense was successfully blocked by PSBS Biak goalkeeper Kadu M.

A minute later, it was PSBS Biak's turn to launch a quick attack from the right side of the Semen Padang defense. However, the PSBS Biak player's right-footed shot was weak, allowing Arthur A. to easily secure the ball.

In the 20th minute, the referee showed Cornelius Stewart a red card for a foul on a PSBS Biak player. Several home players and officials immediately protested strongly.

The referee eventually decided to check the VAR to determine whether Stewart deserved a red card. A minute or two later, the referee overturned the red card but still issued a yellow card to the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines player.
