Tlalnepantla, Mexico, August 13. A supervisory judge has agreed to extend the deadline to 144 hours to determine the indictment of the six employees of the Black Royce restaurant-bar, who are under investigation for the death of businessman Íñigo Arenas Saiz on August 6 inside the establishment. For the time being, they will remain in the Barrientos prison.
The initial hearing lasted 10 hours in the San Pedro Barrientos Oral Trial and Control Courts. The court approved the arrest and ordered the detainees to be held in pretrial detention for justified reasons. The court also set a date for the continuation of the proceedings for August 15 at 9:00 a.m.
During the session, the Public Ministry (MP) agent brought charges against employees Aritzi Abril N, Ana Karen N, Cecilia N, Ana Karen N, Eduardo N, head waiter, and Carlos Daniel N, head of security at the club.
He argued that the victim's death was the result of "malicious acts" and "prior agreement" between those involved, as the man was intoxicated when he arrived at the Black Royce and they continued to supply him with alcohol, even though service at the restaurant-bar was after hours.
The MP detailed that the head of security allowed the businessman access, the head waiter assigned him a table, and the four women kept him company before he went up to the VIP area.
He clarified that when the businessman reported physical discomfort, the workers "were in control of the incident, should have sought medical attention, and the victim would not have lost his life."
He added that toxicology tests indicated the victim had 253 milligrams per liter of alcohol in his blood and tested positive for ethanol and cocaine.
Furthermore, the businessman's shirt was replaced, and when the original was found, it had traces of gastric material and blood containing the toxic substances.
