Spotify has finally introduced lossless audio to its streaming service after years of rumors about plans to provide the feature.
news about plans to provide lossless audio on the Spotify platform has been circulating since 2017.
Spotify in 2021 promised lossless audio would be "coming later this year" and in May 2024 reported that the feature was "almost ready."
News of the feature's launch resurfaced in mid-2025, but was met with public skepticism until lossless audio was actually introduced in September 2025.
The provision of this feature will not be limited to users of new subscription packages or service packages with higher prices.
Users do not need a Spotify HiFi membership or a new Music Pro subscription to take advantage of it.
Lossless audio will roll out to all Premium subscribers in 50 markets with initial launches in Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the United States, and the United Kingdom in the next two months.
