The Governor of the Riau Islands highlighted the close investment relationship between Singapore and the Riau Islands.

Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad highlighted the close cross-sector investment relationship between Singapore and the Riau Islands, which has existed for nearly six decades and has strengthened relations between the two countries.

"The good relationship between Singapore and the Riau Islands has existed since 1967, and it continues to grow stronger. In 2024, investment from Singapore was recorded at 66.14 percent of total investment in the Riau Islands," Ansar said at a reception commemorating Singapore's 60th National Day in Batam on Thursday.

According to him, the investment has a significant impact, not only in the development of industrial zones and energy projects, but also in improving the quality of human resources in the region.

"This achievement will have a significant impact on ongoing regional, industrial, and energy development projects. We hope that Riau Islands and Singapore can progress and develop together, particularly in the green energy sector, extending to the BBK (Batam-Bintan-Karimun) region," said Ansar.
