The Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Alexander Sabar, revealed three factors that have caused online gambling content to become widespread in the digital space.
"When we talk about the problem of online gambling , it's also one aspect of digital security. We look at three factors: technology, procedures, and society," he said at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.
He stated that rapid technological developments have opened up space for various illegal digital activities such as online gambling.
Meanwhile, the implementation of regulations and legal procedures regarding the use of technology often lags behind technological developments.
Alexander believes that the rise of online gambling content in the digital space is also inseparable from public demand.
"If we look at the principle of the development of online gambling sites , it's because there's demand in society. It's like there's a need and someone to fulfill that need, and it continues to grow," he said.
