The reduction in the number of red and black taxis affects the transportation of Tijuana residents.

Tijuana, July 11. The reduction in the fleet of Red and Black taxis has affected users, as their travel times have increased , either because they are unaware of other transportation options or because, in their opinion, the black buses that circulate along the Agua Caliente corridor are slower.

For the past week, only 17 taxis of this type remain on Fourth Street in the Downtown area, and on Friday, July 12, they will cease to operate permanently, at least during the day.

Just on Monday, July 8, a group of drivers and permit holders held a demonstration to let authorities know they disagreed with the relocation of buses to other routes and the issuing of fines to taxis that pick up passengers on Fourth Street.

Rebeca, a passenger, acknowledged that although some taxi drivers "drive very badly ," when you're in a hurry, it's what you need, so she prefers this mode of transportation.

Victoria mentioned that it currently takes her up to 20 minutes to wait for a taxi, something that didn't happen before.

Although there are buses that follow the same route as taxis, he said he prefers the latter because buses only pick up passengers at official stops and take longer to complete the journey.

Alejandra agreed that the time it takes for trucks to reach their destination is a disadvantage, so she prefers that the Red and Black taxis continue to provide service.
