Mexico City, April 18. Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard announced that he will request diplomatic channels from the United States for information related to the alleged Pentagon espionage of the Mexican Armed Forces and the DEA's infiltration of the Sinaloa cartel.
"We will make a proposal through the appropriate diplomatic channels asking that, we will do it today... It is an obligation of the United States to share it with Mexico or, if applicable, not share it and point out that it is not true," he explained at the end of the presentation of a WhatsApp telephone number (55 8932 - 4827) to process an appointment for a passport .
He indicated that the request will be made today and that based on what is reported, he will provide a position on the issue.
"Let's see. Let me see the information first. I'll have that communication today, and I'll keep you updated in the coming days based on the information they send me, so I don't have to say anything right now that doesn't have a specific basis," he said in an interview with the media.
Regarding the activities of U.S. agencies in Mexico, he noted that in this particular case, regarding the DEA, "we will have to review the details, and we will inform you about how this matter worked."
