Tijuana ends 2022 without enough police and weapons.

Tijuana, December 8.- The city ends 2022 without enough police and weapons to combat insecurity and with a rise in homicides.

Mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez stated that the problem of the lack of weapons continues; since the beginning of the year, she has been working with the Federal Government to obtain the delivery of weapons purchased during the previous administration of Arturo González Cruz, but due to paperwork, the municipal police have yet to receive them.

"We haven't received the weapons. I'm still requesting them and will continue to do so. The governor is helping me with the arrangements, since she has the connections in Mexico City."

Caballero Ramírez acknowledged that 1,700 police officers are insufficient to police the city and serve a population of nearly 2 million. Tiguan is the most populated city in the country, according to INEGI (National Institute of Statistics and Geography). Because of this problem, the call for police recruitment remains open.
