Mexicali, August 21. The crime of transfemicide has now been classified in Baja California following the publication of the reform approved by the Baja California Congress.

Local representative Jaime Cantón Rocha was the driving force behind the change to the Penal Code, and the initiative was unanimously approved by the members of the current legislature.

Baja California became the fifth state to recognize this crime within its legal framework.

The reform was published in the Official State Gazette on July 18, formally entering into force.
