Mexico City , June 21.- Pending her ratification as the new Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Alicia Bárcena has spoken with her North American counterparts and reaffirmed the Mexican government's willingness to maintain cooperation with the United States and Canada on shared priorities.
Bárcena spoke this Wednesday with Secretary of State Antony Blinken of Joe Biden's administration.
“Today I had a friendly and productive conversation with @SecBlinken in which we shared our vision for the U.S.-Mexico relationship and the region,” the designated foreign minister said on social media.
He added that during the talks, he reaffirmed "our willingness to continue strengthening our cooperation on all issues on our common agenda."
On Monday, Bárcena spoke with Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly.
“It was a pleasure speaking with Minister @melaniejoly . The deployment of firefighters reaffirms the solidarity between our countries. I took this opportunity to reiterate our willingness to advance trilateral collaboration leading up to the 11th U.S.-Mexico-Canada Leaders' Summit,” the incoming foreign minister said on her Twitter account.
Joly commented on social media that she congratulated Bárcena on her appointment and that they spoke "to discuss our shared priorities and to sincerely thank Mexico for its assistance in combating the wildfires in Canada. I look forward to continuing to work together."
