Vicarious violence will be punished in Baja California

Tijuana, February 2. Baja California legislators unanimously approved a reform to the Law on Women's Access to a Life Free of Violence and the Penal Code to penalize vicarious violence in the state.

Representative Rosa Margarita García Zamarripa, from the Encuentro Solidario Party, emphasized that it is an important day in the state, “no more violence, no more harm to women through their sons and daughters, whoever does it must pay .”

The approval of the recognition of vicarious violence in our legal framework is one of several steps that precede the one we are taking today, and of others we must take in the quest to eliminate violence against women, emphasized legislator García Zamarripa.

Opinion No. 7 of the Gender Equality and Youth Commission was read by one of the initial legislators, Representative Liliana Michel Sánchez Allende.

Details that :

Section IX.- Vicarious violence is the intentional act or omission committed against a woman by someone who maintains or maintained a relationship, whether de facto as a couple or similar even without cohabitation, and who, by themselves or through intermediaries, uses a descendant, ascendant, financially dependent person or person with an emotional relationship as a means to cause some type of psychological, patrimonial, economic, physical or any other type of harm or damage to the woman.

The state and municipal governments will jointly implement and operate an information system to record exclusively reports and investigations of domestic violence or vicarious violence .

This will allow the corresponding preventive and investigative authorities to immediately detect any repeat offenders , thus safeguarding the victim's integrity.
