Australian heavyweight (79.3 kg) boxer Justis Huni will step into the ring in November 2025 to pursue the competition for the world heavyweight title after suffering his first defeat to Fabio Wardley.
"He (Justis Huni) will return in November (2025). Most likely in Australia," said Justis Huni's promoter, Eddie Hearn, in a report from The Ring, which was monitored in Jakarta on Wednesday.
In his fight against Wardley at Portman Road Stadium, Ipswich, England last June, Huni, who had easily led in the previous three fights, had to suffer a bitter defeat after receiving a hard right hand in the 10th round.
The result meant the 26-year-old boxer's record dropped to 12 wins, 7 knockouts (KOs), and 1 loss. He has been out of action since that fight.
However, British promoter Eddie Hearn said that Huni will return in a 10-round fight to compete again for the world title.
"I want to give him a good 10-round win, and then he'll be ready to fight anyone. People don't realize Justis is so young," he said.
Hearn explained that in his previous fight against Wardley, Huni only had four weeks' notice for the fight, and he had a shoulder problem in preparation.
Huni stepped in after Wardley's original opponent for the bout, Jarrell Miller, withdrew.
While acknowledging Wardley's win as a great comeback , Hearn said Huni had shown everyone how great he was in the fight.
"There's a lot more to come. That's Justis Huni (in condition) at 50 percent," he said.
Huni has been linked with Moses Itauma (20 years old) Both are ranked in the top five of the World Boxing Organization (WBO).
Despite losing to Wardley, Hearn believes Huni has what it takes to thwart Itauma.
"I like that fight for Justis. I think these are two good, young, fast heavyweights," he said.
Hearn confirmed that if the fight against Itauma materializes, Huni will not wait for the ropes to wait for Itauma to unleash his attacks, but will fight tough to win the fight.
