San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama has successfully pushed for his club to hold a special trial for fans who will occupy special stands at each of the team's home games.
In an ESPN report on Thursday, the idea was inspired by the atmosphere of soccer and basketball matches in Europe, which are known to be fanatical.
"It will emulate what I see from football and basketball teams in Europe and around the world, as the fan section will feature non-stop chants, drums, flags and passion," Wembanyama said.
The French basketball player believes the experience could bring a different energy to the AT&T Center, Spurs' home ground.
The special stands will be filled through a selection process, or tryout, held by the club.
In this way, Spurs want to ensure that the selected group of supporters is able to provide a consistent atmosphere throughout the match.
