The West Jakarta Food Security, Maritime Affairs and Agriculture Sub-agency distributed 110 bags of vegetables from urban farming at the Kembangan Agricultural Extension Center to local residents.
Head of the West Jakarta Food Security, Maritime Affairs and Agriculture Sub-agency (KPKP), Novy C. Palit in Jakarta said that this activity aims to introduce agricultural production from the Kembangan Agricultural Extension Center (BPP).
"All of these agricultural products are the result of the harvest at the Kembangan BPP, while some of the vegetables were harvested on the rooftop (a tap) of the West Jakarta Mayor's office parking building," said Novy.
Each bag distributed contained mustard greens, bok choy, kale, corn, and eggplant. "We distributed approximately 82 kilograms (kg) of vegetables, consisting of 12.5 kg of mustard greens, 25 kg of bok choy, 16.5 kg of kale, 21 kg of corn, and 7 kg of eggplant," he said.
In total, 110 bags were distributed to people passing in front of the Kembangan BPP.
Novy added that his party planted various agricultural commodities at the Kembangan BPP, such as eggplant, pakcoy, spinach, water spinach, chilies and so on.
Meanwhile, the harvest depends on the planting period, starting from 21 days for water spinach to three months for eggplant, tomatoes and corn.
"With this activity, we hope residents will not only enjoy the harvest but also learn about BPP. They can learn and try planting their own crops," he said.
