Xiaomi is rumored to not release the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 as its next-generation foldable phone, but instead might release the Xiaomi 17 Fold.
As reported by Gizmochina, Saturday (27/9), this leaked information first came from XiaomiTime, which stated that Xiaomi's newest foldable phone had appeared in the IMEI database.
The smartphone is known to come with the model number 26023PN08C and has the code name "pecan."
While model numbers aren't usually of much interest, this one reveals key details about the upcoming foldable. That's due to the presence of the "PN" code in the model number.
Xiaomi's Mix Fold series has so far used codes with "PX" in them. The Mix Fold 4, for example, has the code number 24072PX77C.

The “PN” tag, on the other hand, is usually associated with the company’s flagship series like the recently launched Xiaomi 17.
So if those estimates are correct, Xiaomi's next foldable could skip the Mix Fold 5 or Fold 6 branding entirely and instead launch as the Xiaomi 17 Fold.
The company typically introduces its foldable devices in June, but this device is expected to debut in February 2026.
This launch prediction could be connected to the debut of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which is expected to release around the same time.
On the specs side, the new leak reveals the Xiaomi 17 Fold could feature a 200MP Samsung S5KHP5 primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens (OV50M), and another 50MP secondary lens (OV50M), plus a 16MP front camera (OV16F).
The camera setup is largely the same setup that Xiaomi brought to the Mix Fold 3.
For now, the Xiaomi 17 Fold only exists as a database entry, but if Xiaomi is really planning to launch it next year, then more details should emerge through leaks well before its official announcement.
