A total of 271 athletes from 34 provinces in Indonesia are preparing to begin their adventure in the pencak silat competition at the 2025 Kudus National Martial Arts Games.
"The number of classes being competed is 16, while the provisions stipulate that each contingent can choose a maximum of 10 classes from the total classes provided," said Agung Nugroho, Member of the Referee and Jury Institution of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (PB IPSI) in Kudus, Friday.
He welcomed the 2025 National Martial Arts Games positively because it was an opportunity to identify potential pencak silat talents as part of the regeneration of athletes for a higher level.
The enthusiasm of participants in taking part in this Self-Defense PON was quite high.
Lightweight classes such as classes A, B, C, and D, are attended by 30 to 34 athletes per class.
Meanwhile, in heavyweight classes such as F, G, and H, the number of participants is relatively smaller because not all regions have athletes in this category.
