The official Palestinian news agency, WAFA, quoted Abbas as praising Turkey's statements rejecting annexation and displacement, appreciating the efforts of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in supporting the Palestinian people, and welcoming US President Donald Trump's efforts to stop the war in Gaza.
Abbas considered these positions "in line with the Palestinian position and with the orientations of the world's countries seeking to end the war and establish peace."
The Palestinian president also commended the positions of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE, Jordan, and Qatar, praising their leaders' support for Palestinian rights and their rejection of the ongoing war and the policies of annexation and displacement.
This comes as Israel, with US support, continues its war on Gaza since October 7, 2023. To date, the war has resulted in the deaths of more than 66,000 Palestinians and the injury of approximately 168,000 others, most of them children and women, in addition to a famine that has claimed the lives of hundreds of civilians.
In the West Bank, more than 1,000 Palestinians were martyred, thousands were injured, and the number of detainees exceeded 19,000, including hundreds of children, according to official Palestinian data.
