West Bank: Occupation forces escalate arrest campaigns and seize lands as settlers storm Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) reported that Israeli occupation forces stormed the town, raided several neighborhoods, fired sound bombs, and forced residents to close their shops. The soldiers also detained a number of young men, assaulted them, and prevented ambulance crews from reaching them.

In the central West Bank, the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission revealed that the occupation had seized 35 dunams of land from the town of Ni'lin, the village of Deir Qadis, west of Ramallah, and the village of Beit Lilo, northwest of Ramallah, for military and security purposes.

The commission explained that these lands were seized by the occupation authorities through two military orders: one to build a barbed wire fence separating Ni'lin and Deir Qadis from the Matityahu settlement, and the other to create a buffer zone around the Nahaliel settlement. The analysis indicates that this move expands on a previous order issued in 2007.

The Commission noted that since the beginning of 2025, the occupation authorities have issued a total of 52 military orders to "seize" Palestinian land, 16 of which included the establishment of buffer zones around settlements in most West Bank governorates, including occupied Jerusalem. These orders are part of an effort to impose new facts on the ground, including military towers and roads designated for the army and settlers, at the expense of Palestinian daily life.

Further south, Israeli occupation forces stormed the village of Marah Rabah, south of Bethlehem, raided several homes, detained a number of young men, and assaulted them. Meanwhile, the towns of Beit Fajjar and Idhna, west of Hebron, witnessed raids and house searches, according to eyewitnesses and the WAFA news agency.

In occupied Jerusalem, settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Thursday under heavy Israeli police protection under the pretext of Yom Kippur.

Local sources reported that occupation forces have tightened military measures around Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City of Jerusalem, obstructing Palestinians from entering the compound to ensure the passage of large numbers of settlers.

Groups linked to the so-called "Union of Temple Organizations" also called on their supporters to participate extensively in the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque next Monday under the pretext of celebrating the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles.

The occupation police have transformed the city into a giant prison, blocking off streets with concrete blocks and erecting iron barricades to facilitate the passage of settler buses and prevent citizens from moving between Jerusalem's neighborhoods.

Since the outbreak of the Israeli war of extermination on Gaza, the Israeli occupation army and settlers have escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,047 Palestinians and the injury of approximately 10,300 others. The number of detainees has exceeded 19,000, including 400 children, according to official Palestinian data.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, leaving 66,148 martyrs and 168,716 wounded, most of them children and women, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 455 Palestinians, including 151 children.
