Ankara: Hamas's response to Trump's plan is an opportunity to cease fire in Gaza and pave the way for peace.

The ministry statement said: "We believe that Hamas's response today to the plan announced by US President Donald Trump will enable an immediate ceasefire in Gaza."

The statement added that Hamas's response would also enable "the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to the region and the implementation of steps that would enable the achievement of lasting peace."

The Turkish Foreign Ministry stressed that Israel must immediately halt its attacks on the population of Gaza, and "we urge both parties to begin immediate negotiations for a ceasefire and the implementation of the two-state solution, which is also supported by the international community."

The ministry affirmed that Türkiye will continue to support the negotiations and make constructive contributions.

On Friday evening, Hamas said in a statement that it had submitted its response to the Trump plan for Gaza to mediators, announcing its agreement to release all Israeli prisoners, living and dead, and to hand over control of the Strip to a Palestinian body of independent technocrats based on Palestinian national consensus and Arab and Islamic support.

However, she stressed that the future of the Gaza Strip and the rights of the people are matters to be discussed within a Palestinian framework.

On September 29, Trump announced a 20-point plan, including the release of Israeli prisoners held in Gaza within 72 hours of Israel's acceptance of the plan, a ceasefire, and the disarmament of Hamas.

During a press conference with Trump at the White House last Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that he "supports the Trump plan," believing it "achieves Israel's goals from the war."

This comes amid escalating Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, as Israel continues its extensive military operations aimed at occupying Gaza City and displacing its residents, amid famine and catastrophic humanitarian conditions resulting from the ongoing war.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, leaving 66,288 martyrs and 169,165 wounded, most of them children and women, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 457 Palestinians, including 152 children.
