Liverpool manager Arne Slot admitted that he has not seen his team lose confidence despite having just suffered four consecutive defeats in all competitions, the latest of which was a 1-2 defeat to Manchester United (MU) at Anfield in the eighth week of the 2025/2026 Premier League on Sunday (19/10).
In that match, MU took an early lead thanks to a goal from Bryan Mbeumo (2'). Liverpool then managed to equalize in the 78th minute through Cody Gakpo, but the Red Devils scored again in the 84th minute through Harry Maguire.
This was Liverpool's fourth consecutive defeat, having previously lost to Crystal Palace (1-2), Galatasaray (0-1), and Chelsea (1-2). Meanwhile, for Manchester United, this was their first league win at Anfield since January 2016.
"Have we lost confidence? I haven't seen that," Slot said at a post-match press conference.
Slot admitted he hasn't seen Liverpool's confidence waning because in the second half of those four defeats, his team always performed well, creating many chances.
Sofascore noted that in those four defeats, Liverpool had a total of 43 shots in the second half, but only managed to score three goals.
For example, in the second half of the match against the Red Devils, Liverpool produced a total of 12 shots which resulted in three big chances with a figure of 1.95 expected goals (xG).
