Boxers Joshua Buatsi and Zach Parker are set to enter the ring to fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) International light heavyweight title on November 1 in Manchester, England.
"Two elite heavyweight fighters will come to this fight from very different paths," the WBA said in a statement on its official website, which was monitored in Jakarta on Tuesday.
For Buatsi, 32, the upcoming fight represents a significant turning point in his career. The British-Ghanaian boxer suffered his first professional defeat last February in Riyadh at the hands of Callum Smith.
A loss that halted his momentum toward the top of the division. The upcoming fight represents redemption and a chance to reset and reclaim his place among the light heavyweight elite, with the WBA International belt as added motivation.
Buatsi will face Parker with a record of 19 wins, 1 loss, and 13 KOs,
The 31-year-old Parker will come into this bout full of confidence. He has won his last four fights, two of them by knockout, and sees this fight as a golden opportunity to capture a prestigious regional title and continue his climb up the rankings.
So far, Parker has only been defeated once with 26 wins and 18 knockouts.
The WBA said all signs point to a close fight between two fighters with a lot to prove, one seeking redemption, the other hungry for recognition.
