"By a sniper's bullet," the Israeli army announces the death of one of its soldiers in northern Gaza.

The Israeli army stated in a statement that "Sergeant First Class (Reserve) Michael Mordechai Nahmani, 26, a technology and maintenance soldier in the 614th Combat Engineering Battalion, was killed in action in the northern Gaza Strip," without providing additional details about the circumstances or time of the Israeli soldier's death.

For its part, the Israeli army radio reported that "the soldier was killed by a Hamas sniper," without providing further details.

According to Israeli military data, 914 soldiers have been killed since the start of the war in October 2023, including 467 in the ground battles in the Gaza Strip that began on the 27th of the same month. In addition, 6,318 soldiers have been injured since the start of the war, including 2,956 in combat.

Qassam operations

Earlier, the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced in a brief statement that it had successfully targeted an Israeli tank with a "Yassin 105" missile in the Yarmouk area north of Gaza City last Wednesday.

In another statement, Al-Qassam Brigades said it had raided the "Al-Hawadh" military site in the "Netzarim" axis, south of the Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood, south of Gaza City. Its fighters engaged in point-blank combat with the occupation soldiers, killing and wounding a number of them.

The Al-Qassam Brigades reported that it targeted two Israeli Merkava tanks with "Al-Yasin 105" and "Tandem" missiles, noting that its fighters attempted to capture an Israeli soldier, "but field conditions did not permit this. Our fighters monitored the landing of the helicopter for the evacuation, which lasted for more than an hour," according to the statement.

On Friday morning, the Israeli government ratified the ceasefire agreement on the Gaza Strip and a prisoner exchange with Palestinian factions. This means the ceasefire agreement will enter into immediate effect, halting the genocide that has lasted more than two years.

Early Thursday morning, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement on the first phase of his ceasefire and prisoner exchange plan.

The agreement came after four days of indirect negotiations between the two parties in Sharm el-Sheikh, with the participation of delegations from Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar, and under US supervision.

With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 8, 2023, leaving 67,194 martyrs and 169,890 wounded, most of them children and women, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 460 Palestinians, including 154 children.
