The Israeli occupation continues its bombing of Gaza despite the ceasefire taking effect.

Local sources and eyewitnesses reported that an Israeli airstrike, artillery shelling, and helicopter gunship fire targeted eastern Gaza City, while Israeli tanks opened fire with machine guns around the Netzarim axis south of the city.

Israeli vehicles positioned northwest of Rafah also fired at the homes and tents of displaced Palestinians, while Israeli artillery shelled the northeast of Khan Yunis with smoke bombs, and an airstrike was carried out in the city center.

This comes hours after the Israeli government ratified the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and a prisoner exchange with Palestinian factions, marking the official entry into force of the ceasefire and the end of military operations that have lasted for more than two years.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza did not report any casualties as a result of the recent Israeli attacks.

Early Thursday morning, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement on the first phase of his ceasefire and prisoner exchange plan.

The agreement came after four days of indirect negotiations between the two parties in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh, with the participation of delegations from Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar, and under US supervision.

With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving 67,194 martyrs and 169,890 wounded, most of them children and women, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 460 Palestinians, including 154 children.
