Caroline van der Plas cancels party leader interview, will not answer reader questions

Caroline van der Plas canceled her party leader interview with the AD and affiliated regional publications at the last minute. The interview was supposed to include readers' questions. But the BBB leader doesn't have time for that: "Another commitment came up."

In the run-up to the elections, this site is interviewing the leading candidates of the seven largest parties, both in the podcast "Politics Close By" and in the newspaper. The interview with BBB leader Caroline van der Plas had already been confirmed almost a month and a half ago by the party's communications department.

Last Friday, the party suddenly announced that it "unfortunately" wouldn't be able to attend because "another commitment came up." Van der Plas thus missed the opportunity to answer questions from AD readers.

Steven Schmidt from Apeldoorn, for example, wanted to know from her why BBB "always points the finger at other parties"? "Just tell your honest story about what you will mean for the Netherlands if you join the government. Please stop pointing the finger at others."

And Pieter Koning from Spijkenisse wanted to know why the BBB is criticizing the Council of State. "Can you guarantee that you will always uphold the rule of law and that we won't have Trumpian effects in the Netherlands?"

These readers' questions will remain unanswered. The BBB leader prefers a working visit to the ammunition depot in Staphorst. This site has repeatedly suggested rescheduling the interview and has been asked to contact the spokesperson. The spokesperson never responded to

 the requests.
