Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital (Wamenkomdigi) Nezar Patria believes strong governance is key to ensuring that artificial intelligence (AI) technology benefits society and the national economy.
Therefore, Nezar Patria asked developers and managers of AI-based platforms to implement strong governance to become trusted platforms for the public.
" Trust by design must be a guiding principle in AI governance. Privacy, security, and ethics must be integrated from the beginning of the AI lifecycle, not just an add-on, not just tacked on at the end," Nezar said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
According to him, platforms must prioritize ethics and fairness to ensure AI delivers bias-free results.
Furthermore, data governance policies are also a crucial consideration in ensuring the platform operates in accordance with the Personal Data Protection (PDP) Act.
