Al-Qahira News Channel reported that the meeting, which was attended by Palestinian Intelligence Chief Majed Faraj, comes as part of ongoing Egyptian efforts to end the crisis in the Gaza Strip and maintain calm.
The channel explained that the two sides agreed to support and continue implementing the ceasefire agreement measures.
The meeting comes as Cairo hosts talks between Palestinian factions aimed at achieving national consensus on implementing the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.
According to the same channel, Egypt is intensifying its contacts with the United States to consolidate the ceasefire in Gaza and advance efforts to achieve "a just and comprehensive peace" in the region.
The ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas entered into force on October 10. The agreement is based on a plan proposed by US President Donald Trump and reached during indirect negotiations in the Sharm el-Sheikh resort, with the participation of Ankara, Cairo, and Doha, and under direct US supervision.
Since October 8, 2023, Israel, with US support, has perpetrated a two-year genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, leaving 68,280 martyrs and 170,375 injured.
