Empowering Indonesia Report highlights key pillars of national AI sovereignty

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, along with research firm Twimbit, launched the Empowering Indonesia Report 2025, emphasizing the importance of sovereign adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) as a key foundation for Indonesia's digital economic growth.

This report outlines five key pillars towards AI sovereignty: reliable digital infrastructure, a sustainable AI workforce, a growing AI industry, robust research and development, and robust regulations and ethics.

"By investing in these five pillars, we can achieve GDP growth of 6.5 percent to 7 percent and achieve high-income country status between 2036 and 2041, depending on how we do it," said Twimbit Founder and CEO Manoj Menon in Central Jakarta on Monday.

According to the report, the implementation of sovereign AI could also drive productivity increases of up to 18 percent in the services sector, 15–20 percent in manufacturing, and 5–8 percent in agriculture to strengthen national competitiveness and efficiency.

In terms of infrastructure readiness, the Empowering Indonesia Report 2025 noted that Indonesia requires an investment of US$3.2 billion by 2030 to meet national computing needs.
