This came during a meeting between them on the sidelines of the ninth edition of the "Future Investment Initiative" conference in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
Infantino met with the Syrian president yesterday, in the presence of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Sheibani. Infantino later posted a summary of the meeting on his Instagram account, saying:
"We agreed to continue our dialogue to find the best ways to cooperate for the benefit of all Syrians — girls and boys, women and men."
He added: "Syria is a country that loves football, and I look forward to seeing it fully embrace the game at all levels."
He also noted that the meeting focused on "the role that football can play in giving hope and raising the morale of communities."
It is worth noting that President al-Sharaa arrived in Riyadh to participate in the conference, where he was received by Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan at his residence. During his official visit, al-Sharaa is scheduled to meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
