Former world boxing queen Cecilia Braekhus ended her career on a high note

Former world boxing queen Cecilia Braekhus closed her career with a resounding victory over Ema Kozin in the fight for the World Boxing Council (WBC) women's super welterweight (69.8 kg) world title in Lillestrom, Norway.

"In an unforgettable farewell night, legend Cecilia Braekus closed out her illustrious career with a unanimous decision victory over Slovenian boxer Ema Kozin, capturing the WBC super welterweight world title," the WBC said in a statement on its official website, as monitored in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Colombian-born but Norwegian-raised Braekhus once again demonstrated the technical elegance, tactical acumen, and passion and dedication that have made her one of the greatest female boxers of all time.

From the opening bell, filled with inspiration, charm and a majestic presence, Braekhus controlled the distance with a solid jab and set the tempo, pressuring Kozin.

Braekhus displayed agility and skill, limiting and neutralizing the attacks of the younger, longer-reaching Kozin. Over the course of ten rounds, the "First Lady of Boxing" displayed composure, precision, and impeccable timing, along with unwavering determination.

Kozin tried his best to respond with pressure and intensity, but the Slovenian boxer struggled to contain Braekhus' graceful dominance, controlling each round with authority that was like a scepter.

After the final round, the judges' scores were 98-92, 97-93, and 96-94, all in favor of Braekhus, who raised his hand for the final time as world champion.
