Instagram users can now directly use the generative artificial intelligence (AI)-based photo and video editing tool Meta AI in the IG Stories feature.
According to a TechCrunch report on Thursday (23/10), the presence of Meta AI allows Instagram users to enter prompts or text commands to add or remove something from photos and videos uploaded to IG Stories.
While Meta already offers image editing tools on Instagram, those features were previously only available for interactions with the Meta AI chatbot .
The addition of live prompting capabilities in IG Stories makes this AI-based editing feature much more accessible.
This new service can be found in the "Change Style" menu at the top of Instagram Stories when you tap the brush icon.
To edit an image, select “add”, “delete”, or “change” to describe what the user wants to change in the command bar.
For example, users can ask Meta AI to change hair color, add a crown to the head, or insert a sunset background into a photo.
There are also preset effects that can be selected to change the clothing or style of the image.
For example, users can add items like sunglasses or a leather jacket. Users can also apply a watercolor effect to the image.
For videos, users can make it look like it's snowing or add fire.
