Jaylen Brown injured his hamstring during the Boston Celtics' preseason game.

Boston Celtics basketball player Jaylen Brown suffered a left hamstring injury during a preseason match against the Toronto Raptors, ahead of the start of the 2025-2026 NBA season.

According to the NBA website, quoted in Jakarta on Saturday, Boston Celtics Head Coach Joe Mazzulla said Brown will still participate in all parts of the training session, except for the live game session.

"I hope he is in the best condition every day and we will make a decision later," he said.

The forward left the court midway through the first quarter of Wednesday's 110-108 preseason win over the Raptors after feeling a tightness in his left thigh and did not return until the end of the game.

The injury raises concerns for the Celtics, who are also currently without their star player, Jayson Tatum, due to an Achilles tendon injury .

With Tatum out, Brown is expected to be the mainstay of the team's restructuring attack.

Mazzulla hasn't confirmed whether Brown will be ready for Wednesday's season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers (October 23). However, he emphasized that his recovery will be monitored gradually to avoid aggravating the injury.

Brown has been a key part of the Celtics' starting duo alongside Tatum in recent seasons.
