Indonesian men's singles badminton player Jonatan Christie advanced smoothly to the quarterfinals of the 2025 Denmark Open after defeating Japanese singles player Kodai Naraoka in straight games 21-7, 21-13 in the round of 16 at Jynske Arena on Thursday.
Jojo admitted that his victory this time was due to the success of the plan he had prepared from the start to block Kodai's playing pattern.
"Today, everything we had planned and discussed with the coach went smoothly on the field. I was able to adapt Kodai's attempts to change his playing style, allowing me to maintain control of the game from start to finish," Jojo said, as quoted by PBSI.
"Last night I said Kodai would be more tenacious and patient, but especially in the second game, he actually came out strong and attacked. Maybe it was because I tried to be more aggressive at the start and caught him off guard. He didn't expect that, but it actually made my game more comfortable," said the sixth seed in the BWF Super 750 tournament.
