Kadin highlights data theft in download links and work platforms

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has highlighted the increasing phenomenon of cybercrime involving data theft, involving the insertion of malware into download links and job search platforms.

Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Dea Saka Kurnia Putra, explained that hackers now focus on directly stealing sensitive data such as usernames , passwords , or financial data.

"So the increase is very drastic, 27.5 million (victims), where it turns out that 54 percent of ransomware victims came from Info Stealers (data thieves), not from system hacking," said Putra in a discussion session at the National Cybersecurity Connect 2025 event in South Jakarta, Wednesday.

Putra explained the popular method used by perpetrators to steal their victims' data through fake download links.
