Khalil al-Hayya: We will not give the occupation a pretext to resume the war. We demand an increase in the amount of aid.

Al-Hayya said in statements to the Qatari Al Jazeera channel, which were broadcast by the movement via its Telegram account: "We will not give the occupation a pretext to resume the war, and we handed over 20 Israeli prisoners 72 hours after the ceasefire," which went into effect on October 10 with the mediation of Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Turkey.

He added, "We will enter new areas on Sunday to search for some of the bodies of the occupation's prisoners."

Regarding the administrative arrangements in Gaza, Al-Hayya stressed that "we (Hamas) have no reservations about any national figure residing in Gaza running the Strip."

He added, "We agreed with all factions that the UN's mission is to rebuild Gaza," and continued, "We want to hold elections as a prelude to reuniting the national ranks."

Al-Hayya said: "I told (US envoy Steve) Witkoff and (US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared) Kushner, during the meeting with them, that we are advocates of stability, and that President Trump is capable of curbing the Israeli occupation."

Regarding the movement's weapons, which the terms of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement stipulate must be disarmed, the head of Hamas in Gaza said: "Our weapons are linked to the existence of occupation and aggression, and if the occupation ends, these weapons will revert to the state."

He added, "The issue of weapons is still under discussion with the factions and mediators, and the agreement is still in its early stages."

He stressed that "Gaza needs 6,000 aid trucks per day, not just 600, and the occupation is obstructing the entry of some materials into Gaza as if we were still in the midst of war."

He added, "We are not satisfied with the amount of aid entering the Gaza Strip, and we call on mediators to intervene."

The war, launched by Israel with US support on October 8, 2023, resulted in the deaths of 68,519 Palestinians and the injury of 170,382 others, most of them children and women, and the destruction of 90% of the civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.
