The 53rd Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, or Jakarta Gymnastics 2025, officially kicked off on Sunday at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta, making history as the first Artistic Gymnastics World Championships to be held in Southeast Asia.
International Gymnastics Federation President Morinari Watanabe called Jakarta an ideal host city. Watanabe also thanked the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation (FGI) and the organizing committee for their hard work.
"Jakarta, a city rich in culture, with warm and dynamic people, is the perfect city to host the World Championships," he said at the opening of the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta.
Watanabe also appreciated the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation (FGI), chaired by Ita Yuliati, and all the local committees involved.
"Your dedication and professionalism are truly inspiring," he said.
The Chairperson of the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation, Ita Yuliati, said that the event, which will be attended by more than 400 athletes from around the world, is not just a competition.
"This is the hope and dream of Indonesian Gymnastics come true, a milestone in our journey to grow and promote gymnastics in Indonesia more widely and massively," said Ita.
