Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta heaped praise on Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone ahead of their Champions League clash on Tuesday (21/10).
Arteta said he "looks up" to Simeone, and believes the Argentine coach has the qualities to succeed in English football.
"Obviously, he's someone I admire and I've learned a lot from him. What's extraordinary about him is his passion and fighting spirit," Arteta said, as quoted on Arsenal's official website.
"Over the years, coaching at the same club, with many long-term players, he's still able to transmit energy and a determination to win. That's no easy feat in the modern football environment," he continued.
Simeone has been in charge of Atletico Madrid since December 2011, making him one of the longest-serving managers in Europe. Meanwhile, Arteta, who joined Arsenal in December 2019, is the second-longest-serving manager in the Premier League after Pep Guardiola.
Arteta believes Simeone's consistency at the highest level is proof of his greatness.
