Minister of Creative Economy (Menekraf) Teuku Riefky Harsya emphasized the importance of digital literacy and ethics in utilizing artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology for creative economic activities.
"We are not just talking about technology, but about the people behind it," he was quoted as saying in a ministry press release in Jakarta on Friday.
"AI opens up huge opportunities to increase productivity and reach global markets, but the use of AI also needs to be accompanied by digital literacy, ethics, and copyright protection to ensure the creative ecosystem grows fairly and sustainably," he explained.
In an effort to encourage the responsible use of AI in creative economy activities, the Ministry of Creative Economy together with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Dicoding held the 2025 Hackathon "AI for Creative Economy."
Five digital innovators were crowned winners of the 2025 "AI for Creative Economy" Hackathon, which showcased 44 cloud-based AI products from young talents across 28 cities.
The winning entries from the 2025 Hackathon include a film curation platform, a website creation platform, an audio ad generator, an AI assistant for the fashion and craft industries, and a digital solution for creative economy practitioners.
Teuku Riefky said that Hackathons are an important part of efforts to develop Indonesia's creative digital talent.
"This collaboration with AWS and Dicoding through the Hackathon demonstrates how technology and creativity can combine to create real solutions for Indonesia's creative economy," he said.
