On this barren plain, unemployed people from Utrecht built the Galgenwaard stadium during the crisis years
The municipality recently announced that the area surrounding the Galgenwaard Stadium will become a vibrant area, including 1,100 new homes and a green stadium square. Hopefully, in these times of labor shortages, there will be enough construction workers to complete the project. This was quite different in 1934, when the first version of the stadium (with a cycling track) was built.
