OpenAI launches ChatGPT Atlas, an AI-powered browser

OpenAI launched an artificial intelligence (AI)-based browser called ChatGPT Atlas .

As quoted in TechCrunch news , OpenAI said that the new browser is available free to all users in the initial launch phase.

According to the company, ChatGPT Atlas will first be available on the macOS operating system and will then be made available for Windows, iOS, and Android.

Atlas ChatGPT Engineering Lead Ben Goodger said that ChatGPT is at the heart of the new browser.

In ChatGPT Atlas, users can interact directly with their search results just like using Perplexity or Google's AI mode.

One of ChatGPT Atlas's key features is a built-in chatbot that resides in the side panel and can automatically display context about the page the user is currently viewing.

With this feature, users do not need to manually copy text or move files and links to ChatGPT to provide context.

Additionally, Atlas comes with a browser history feature that allows ChatGPT to learn the sites visited by the user to provide more personalized and relevant answers.

OpenAI also has an “agent mode” feature, which allows users to ask ChatGPT to perform simple tasks in the browser at the user's command.

This feature is available exclusively to paid ChatGPT service users who subscribe to Plus, Pro, and Business plans during the launch period.
