YouTube introduces similarity detection feature to prevent AI abuse

YouTube is introducing similarity detection technology that allows creators to request the removal of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated content that displays similarities to them, such as a voice or face similar to theirs.

As quoted in a TechCrunch broadcast on Tuesday (21/10), a YouTube spokesperson said that eligible creators in the YouTube Partner Program had received notification via email regarding the presence of this support.

YouTube's detection technology is designed to help creators identify and manage content that displays similarities to themselves, both in terms of face and voice.

This technological support is intended to prevent the misuse of people's likenesses for purposes such as broadcasting product or service promotions without consent and spreading misleading information.

Cases like this have occurred numerous times. For example, the company Elecrow used an AI-generated voice clone of YouTuber Jeff Geerling to promote its products without permission.
