Opera introduces Neon, an artificial intelligence-based browser

Web browser developer Opera on Tuesday (30/9) launched Neon, an artificial intelligence-based browser that is capable of creating applications based on AI commands and creating repeatable commands.

By introducing Neon, Opera joins companies developing agentic browsers such as Perplexity and The Browser Company.

An agentic browser is a browser that uses artificial intelligence (AI) agents to autonomously browse websites, interact with web elements, and complete tasks on behalf of the user.

As quoted in a TechCrunch broadcast on Tuesday (30/9), Opera EVP Browsers Krystian Kolondra said that Neon was created for users who intensively use AI on a daily basis.

"We built Opera Neon for ourselves, and for everyone who uses AI extensively in their daily lives," he said.

"Today, we welcome our first users who will help shape the future of agentic browsing with us," he added.
