"This project involves the construction of a 300-km fuel pipeline from the German border to the Polish pipeline operator's base in Bydgoszcz," Tomczyk said.

He noted that the project's cost would amount to approximately 20 billion zlotys (equivalent to approximately $5.5 billion), confirming that NATO headquarters had allocated these funds.

He added that the talk was about extending a strategic pipeline built in anticipation of war with the Soviet Union.

Tomczyk continued: "In the 1960s and 1970s, NATO built a massive pipeline network. This was done in anticipation of any clash with the Soviet Union, and indeed, with Russia. On the battlefield, the most important things are equipment, ammunition, and fuel."

A preliminary agreement on the integration of pipeline systems between Poland and NATO will be signed today, Friday, at the Military Educational Center in Warsaw.
