  Mixed doubles pair Raihan Pramono/Athresia Candani advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 Bahrain Asian Youth Games (AYG) badminton after defeating Indian representatives Bjorn Jaison/Angel Punera 14-21, 21-17, 21-16 in the quarterfinals at Isa Sports City, Bahrain, Wednesday.


According to the match results report on the official AYG Bahrain 2025 website, monitored in Jakarta, Pramono/Candani were able to turn things around by winning the last two games after falling behind in the first game.


This result adds to their impressive unbeaten record since the preliminary round. Pramono/Candani began their journey in the multi-sport Asian youth event with a convincing 21-1, 21-3 victory over Kuwaiti pair Yousef Abaalquloub/Lujain Alshayji.


The victory boosted the confidence of the two young Indonesian badminton players facing the round of 16 which ended with a victory over Sri Lankan representatives Pamudu Randiligama/Nethmi Ratnayake with 21-6, 21-7.



Next, in the semifinals, Pramono/Candani will face South Korean representatives Da Hwan Jeong/Kim Han Bi to compete for a place in the mixed doubles gold medal match.


Apart from Pramono/Candani, another athlete who is also struggling to contribute a medal in the sport of badminton is Joe Fardhan from the men's singles number.
