Russia plans to host an alternative version of the 2026 Winter Olympics after the International Ski and Snowboard Federation decided not to allow Russians to participate in the Olympics in Italy, even as neutrals

After the exclusion of Russian athletes, Russia plans to host an alternative Olympics in 2026.

According to the information, the alternative games are expected to be held on the same dates as the official Olympics, with the invitation of Belarusian athletes who were also affected by similar international restrictions.

It's worth noting that the International Ski and Snowboard Federation announced on October 21 that Russian and Belarusian athletes would continue to be excluded from participating in international competitions under any capacity, including as neutral athletes. This means they will be unable to participate in the 2026 Olympics, scheduled to be held in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo from February 6 to 22.

It's worth noting that the study into the possibility of allowing Russian athletes to participate in the official Olympics is going through several stages, and there are no indications yet that the decision will change.
