A stabbing has taken place at a synagogue in Manchester, police reported. A driver first drove into people and then stabbed at least one other person. At least four people were injured. Police shot a suspect.
Mayor Andy Burnham spoke to the BBC about a "serious incident," but also said the danger appears to have passed. He added that it appears the suspect has died, but this has not yet been confirmed. The motive is not yet known.
The stabbing occurred on Yom Kippur, a Jewish holiday, on which many Jews traditionally attend synagogue worship. Authorities are asking residents to avoid the area around the synagogue.
