Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid said that algorithms and codes in artificial intelligence (AI) must reflect the positive values of Indonesian society to achieve positive AI results.
"If we don't utilize it in positive ways, the AI we build could become frightening, dangerous, and potentially harmful," Meutya said in her remarks at the Kumparan AI for Indonesia event in Jakarta on Thursday.
He said Indonesia is one of the countries that views AI quite optimistically and is not afraid to use AI to help with daily activities.
Meutya said this could be a good sign because according to some literature, AI has the potential to create 90 million new jobs in various fields such as data science and human collaboration with artificial intelligence.
In terms of its potential for the global economy in 2030, it is also said that artificial intelligence has the potential to contribute up to 15.7 trillion rupiah to state revenue.
