The Palestinian Foreign Ministry welcomes a UN report revealing international complicity in the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

This came after Albanese presented her report entitled "Gaza Genocide: A Mass Crime" to the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (Third Committee) of the United Nations General Assembly, held in New York.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the report "is extremely important because of the facts and legal data it contains that document the crimes of the Israeli occupation," stressing that it "clearly reveals the extent of the international collusion and support given to Israel, through diplomatic, political and military cover, which turned the genocide in Gaza into a mass crime for which the international community bears legal and moral responsibility."

The statement stressed that the report should constitute "a turning point in the position of the international community," noting that "the ongoing genocide in Gaza is not only a humanitarian tragedy, but a real test of the ability of the international system to uphold the principles of justice, equality and the rule of law."

In her speech, Albanese said that the support of some countries for Israel’s settlement policies “later turned into genocide against the Palestinian people,” stressing that “these horrific events are not an aberration, but the culmination of decades of moral and political failure in a colonial world order run through a system of international complicity.”

The UN rapporteur spoke via video conference, saying that she was unable to participate in person at the UN meeting because of the sanctions imposed on her by the United States.

Last July, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced sanctions against Albanese, who documented the Israeli genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in several reports and called for the prosecution of the parties and individuals involved.

She noted that “many countries have armed, funded and protected Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories through illegal acts and deliberate negligence,” which has led to the transformation of “colonial settlement into genocide, the greatest crime committed against the Palestinian people.”

Albanese pointed out that more than 240,000 Palestinians were killed or wounded as a result of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip during the past two years, while thousands more are still missing under the rubble or inside Israeli prisons.

On October 8, 2023, Israel began a two-year genocide in Gaza, which resulted in the martyrdom of 68,531 people and the injury of 170,402 others. It ended with a ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10, reached between Hamas and Israel through the mediation of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, and under the auspices of US President Donald Trump.

In parallel with the genocide in Gaza, Israel intensified its seizure of Palestinian land in the West Bank. Albanese said: "These horrific events are not an aberration, but the culmination of decades of moral and political failure in a colonial world order run through a system of global complicity."

She stressed that "international inaction in holding Israel accountable has allowed it to entrench a system of apartheid and long-term settler colonialism," calling on the international community to take urgent action to ensure justice and accountability.
